In acceptance and commitment therapy, we have a great metaphor for how to get out of our own way. It's essentially the idea of taking your brain for a walk. So if you can imagine yourself like you're walking the dog but you're walking your brain, it's about letting that active, busy, chattering part of our brain come along with you. The fears can come along, the insecurities, and it allows us to move forward with what's important, what we truly value, even when we're full of worries and self-doubt.
