How often do you check-in with yourself? Your internal dialogue is as important as what you communicate to others. There are multiple parts of you that need to be heard and addressed and they are involved in helping you process all your life experiences, including trauma. Dr. Kaveh Kavoosi, a student of Internal Family Systems, is a big promoter of developing tools to perform this internal dialogue in the most productive way.
One of the most important things is to experience, contemplate, and integrate what happens in your life. We tend to hold onto feelings and memories, when in reality, feelings should be experienced and then let go. This is especially true for traumatic experiences, which can lead you to develop maladaptive coping mechanisms. All of this can be addressed and you can change how you experience life by choosing to unburden yourself using the many strategies and tools Kaveh explains during this episode.
