We all have a tendency to block our own happiness or wellbeing by getting stuck on ‘if only’ thoughts and beliefs.
'If only' thoughts might look like this:
“If only I had had that promotion at work, I would be fulfilled”
“If only my partner was more supportive, I would feel content”
“If only I had more money I could travel the world and I would finally be happy”
This applies to ourselves too. Have you have had the thought:
“If only I was taller/more extroverted/smarter/smaller/slimmer/more confident/more resilient/less anxious/ etc. I could finally be happy.”
