Why I Tried to Quit Residency: My Story of Imposter Syndrome, Burnout, Shame & Finding My Place in Medicine

In 2014, I walked into my program director's office as second year internal medicine resident and told him I was quitting. I recall sitting in the chair in his office and believing in my bones that becoming a doctor had been a mistake, and that there was no place for me in clinical medicine. It's crystal clear to me now, 11 years later, that I was wrong. This is my story.
