Joker: Folie A Deux (2024)

Todd Phillips writes and directs this follow up to his 2019 surprise hit. The film sees Joaquin Phoenix return as the titular character and is joined by Lady Gaga. In this film, Arthur Fleck goes on trial for the murders he committed in the previous film but while serving at Arkham Asylum, a mysterious woman befriends him and leads down a destructive path of anarchy and death. Although the film is based on the iconic villain in DC Comics, there’s no connection to Batman or any other DC films. Phoenix won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal in the first film and was eager to return for a sequel.
