This 1975 classic was directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Peter Benchley. The film stars Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss & Robert Shaw. In this film, the sheriff of a small New England town is investigating the death of a young woman, whose remains washed up on the beach, a shark attack is the outcome. With the help of a marine biologist and a shark expert, the sheriff goes on the hunt before the another attack occurs. This film is considered to be the very first “summer blockbuster” after it smashed the box office with a $475 million dollar gross in its original theatrical release. It launched a franchise that included 3 sequels & won a slew of awards including 3 Academy Awards. In 2001, the Library of Congress selected this film to be preserved in US National Film Registry.
