John the Baptist was more than some strange desert guy who preached about fire and repentance to a few people, he was more than some strange desert guy who preached about fire and repentance to huge crowds from across the countryside.
How does this message of repentance from so long ago relate to us today in a day when what we want is almost singularly important?
How do we hear this message of fire and forgiveness in a world that tells us that our sins exclude us from being able to be a part of the culture?
The love of God is a refining fire, not an all-consuming one. How do we deal with this in an all or nothing world?
