Jesus hears from John the Baptist a question: “are you the one, or are we supposed to keep waiting for someone else?”. Jesus answers by pointing to healings, signs, and miracles — and then takes a direct shot at the powers of the world with a message that the Kingdom of God is not some reed easily shaken, but robust and blooming even in the least hospitable places.
How do we respond to the Messiah we have when we’re challenged by the one that we want?
What about all these questions we continue to have?
God is enough to handle these struggles and more. God is not so easily shaken.
