David Rose is a professional comedian based in Melbourne, Australia. In Part 1 of this two-part episode, David and I explore the intersection of comedy, culture, personal growth, and societal critique, all while maintaining a humorous tone.

In what I was hoping would be an episode that would give us insight into the inner workings of David’s brilliant comedic mind turned out to be so much more, also giving us an examination of how entertainers navigate the complex landscape of public performance where personal views, humour, and cultural respect intersect.

Episode highlights:

Trump Impersonation and Hand Gestures - David brings up Trump's mannerisms, particularly his hand movements, likened to playing an "accordion" and controlling the crowd's energy in a similar style to how Letterman used to.

Cultural Misunderstandings - David talks about his very unfiltered mother-in-law in Central Park, waking up from a nap and bluntly asking a nanny if a baby was hers due to racial differences, highlighting cultural and comedic misunderstandings.
