It's April 29th and we are turning to the gospel reading for the week: John 10:1-16.  Patrick explores the phrase and imagination used by John to describe the nature of Jesus that is traditionally translated as "The Good Shepherd" (verse 11).  This can, however, also very much be translated as, "The Beautiful Shepherd."

In this sense, the Risen Jesus Christ can be understood in a wholly new and artistic way as the fully realized, 'beautiful' human being; the fulfilled artistic expression of the Divine Ground of Being: "The Image of God", even with his wounds.

New Song & Special thanks, again, to Elliot Chamberlin who composed the opening music, "Seeking Together" and the new composition, "Water of Life" played at the end of today's short episode. The image above is Raphael's "Ia Disputa del Sacramento" and is found in the Vatican in Rome over and against the more famous "School of Athens".
