In this second conversation on extended reality with Paul K. Chappell, Patrick asks him to share his vision for more deeply understanding what is happening in our time with the technological advances, particularly from the past 100 years.  What Paul shares is something like a divine-moral cosmology: what once were the powers of the (Greek) Gods are now in mortal, fallible, vulnerable human hands. According to Paul - and the Greeks - the most powerful God was Hypnos, the God of dreams and sleep.  According to Paul, it is this God’s powers which are coming into human hands in the digital form of virtual and augmented reality.  It is this power that Paul sees will put before us the greatest challenge to our humanity, providing a powerful trial in which we might feel the necessary force of our nemesis in order to heed the call to unfold and evolve our shared humanity.
