You can take music with you throughout your life. Parents might do well to think if playing an instrument may be more attractive to your child if devices aren’t as readily available. Also, consider if devices in general may be making you respond to your family members in an irritated fashion and maybe approach your children regarding this topic in a way that presents you as the parent as struggling with this. If you play an instrument yourself, perhaps you could informally share some of what you know with those you spend time around, especially younger people. If you decide to purchase an instrument, consider talking to someone experienced with that instrument before you make your purchase!
