💭 What is a narrative, exactly? It's more than a story.

Stories often have a beginning, a middle, and an end, making them self-contained. Contrarily, narratives are open-ended. The outcome depends on the decisions and deeds of people involved, it has the potential to be a forceful call to action.

Guillaume Wiatr, the Principal and Founder of MetaHelm, a company that guides CEOs, founders, and business owners to align teams and accelerate innovation adoption, joins us in this week's episode. His insight that stories engage but narratives mobilize is the groundbreaking subject of his book, Strategic Narrative. We will learn about this framework leveraged by senior executives of companies such as Google, Microsoft, the US, and French Government.

Guillaume explains as Mick deeply listens that we'd want a strategic narrative, succinct but thorough, precise but with space for development, one that conveys the strategy, represents the culture, and defines the company's vision. It should describe your brand as a whole rather than a catchphrase or a positioning statement. It should include your past, present, and future locations. What you value in relationships and how you think value is created. It requires a change in perspective that is driven by the leadership team.
