DRAWING NEAR TO GOD

Scripture:
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:8

Devotional Message:
There is no greater invitation than the call to draw near to God. He is not distant, cold, or unreachable; He desires closeness with His children. To draw near means to turn away from the noise of the world, lay aside sin and distractions, and intentionally seek His presence. Prayer, worship, and the study of His Word are not just religious duties, but pathways into intimacy with Him.

When we take a step toward God, He responds by drawing closer to us. In His presence, we find the peace that the world cannot give, wisdom for our decisions, and strength to endure trials. A heart that daily seeks after God becomes more sensitive to His leading and more secure in His love. The more we dwell near Him, the more His nature is reflected in us—our thoughts, words, and actions begin to align with His will.

Do not settle for a distant walk with God. Press in. Make room for Him. For it is in nearness to Him that we are truly transformed, renewed, and empowered to live out His purpose.

Am I intentionally pursuing God daily, or am I allowing distractions to keep me from experiencing the closeness He desires?

Prayer:
Almighty Father, thank You for inviting me into Your presence. Draw me closer to You each day, and help me to remove every distraction that keeps me distant. May my heart delight in Your Word, my spirit be renewed in prayer, and my life reflect the beauty of Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
