Taya Sanders graduated with a Bachelors's in Human Development and a minor in Psychology from Oregon State University. In this episode - we cover her experiences being an OSU cheerleader, being a mother of two and now - to being a business owner and entrepreneur. She is the owner and creator of Clover+Tribe - a handmade kids' clothing company! My friend Taya constantly impresses me with her work ethic and forward momentum. Back surgery for herniated discs certainly didn't slow her down much, so why would being 9 months pregnant stop her from starting her first business? She talks about learning to sew and the hours of youtube tutorials it still takes. We find cadence talking about the trial and error of learning your craft on your own and putting in your hours to learn how to complete the task. Taya tells it like it is - You've got to WORK to get at your dreams and goals - The struggles of raising two kids and being a supermom are not enough to drain Taya of her work ethic and passion for this thing she has created.
She later expands on her minor in psychology and her job working with at-risk youth, and how she and her husband Jake chatted about making the jump and quitting her job to pursue Clover+Tribe.
We talk about taking on the new role of entrepreneurs to it's fullest extent, and improving things. Taya speaks on ways to not only work 'smarter not harder' - but she puts forth her aspirations to set more boundaries, get more sleep, slow down - and maybe even to work a little less. We talk about how she is planning to manage her new "office" and store and
tells us how she got the name "Clover+Tribe".
We talk "replacing the lenses of competition with inspiration" and we emphasize - every single person you meet knows something you don't. We clarify again that we don't play with no mom-guilt: self-imposed or externally felt! We go into the humbling experience of raising children and of course, we enjoy some stories catching up as friends and we give the "what's next" for Clover+Tribe.
Taya has handled being a young mom in such a rockstar way - she is an inspiring mother and hardworking business owner who will inevitably do wonderful things for her community and any other community that crosses with hers. As a grateful friend to her family for many years - it is quite wonderful to not only see her family grow but to see her grow as a leader and inspiring person herself. She is a believer in constant self-improvement and it will only compound her success over the years. Be on the lookout for more from Clover+Tribe and Mrs. Sanders!
