Gaslitghting takes aim squarely at a persons sense of self confidence, gradually whittling away at it until the person is left questioning whether what they experience , think, and feel is real or some fantasy their mind is made up.
-Not ever conflict involves Gaslighting. Gaslighting is distinct because only one of you is listening and considering the other perspective and someone is negating your perception, by insisting that you are wrong or telling you your emotional reaction is crazy/dysfunctional in some way.
-Most of us have been gas lit at some point in our lives. It’s important to learn how to spot the technique, shut it down, and minimize the phycological impact it has on our lives. Gaslighting can have a devastating and long-term impact on our emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical wellbeing when left untreated.
Gaslighting can occur often by different people in our lives. We are gas lit by politicians all the time that’s a technique used to get your vote. If gaslighting is happening to you daily in your life please rescue yourself because it’s not healthy and you are being emotionally abused.
Please call your local DV hotline and get help. The police can’t help you because it’s not a crime. You have to get out and get help. If you know someone whom is being emotionally abused help them call your local hotline to see what you can do to help your loved ones.
