Not all rest is created equal. If you are a person like me who believed if you just sleep, you will recharge your battery and be ready for the next day. It’s not solely true because there are seven areas of rest, we need to incorporate in our lives to fully rest and fully recharge our mind body and soul.
According to Dr. Saundra Dalton- Smith the founder Of the 7 areas of rest said we cannot be fully recharge if we don’t get physical rest, if we don’t get mental rest, if we don’t get social rest, if we don’t get creative rest, if we don’t get spiritual rest, if we don’t get emotional, and if we don’t get sensory rest.
Rest is not the same as sleep, rest encompass the restorative activities we do that help us refill our cups, which become depleted throughout the day.
We live in a society where rest is not an option because we live in a world of the hustle and bustle. We’re always working and using our energy, so our cup is depleting by the second.
Covid 19 has made matters worse, Police killing minorities made matters worse and lets not forget home schooling and this whole presidential thing . just preparing this episode got me drained. Especially with the capitol hill situation on 1/6/2021.

We are under a lot of stress from all the uncertainty. We don’t even know what going to happen tomorrow or 3 months from now with anything.
It’s a lot we are taking in like I said COVID police killing, home schooling losing jobs, to the politics

This is why it’s important for us to get the right type of rest and not just the physical rest we need.
Dr. Dalton identified seven types of rest that she feels everyone requires and I agree with her we all need all seven types of rest so we can be fully present and fully recharged.
During Dr Dalton’s research she discovered that most people have a rest deficit According to Dr. Dalton she stated we live in a society that doesn’t know how not to be busy. She also stated that we always working and using energy, so we’re getting depleted.
Dr. Dalton has identified seven types of rest everyone requires. One size doesn’t fit all when it comes to rest according to the Doc. Literally everything you do draws from a different pool of energy. If you want to be fully charged and get the best rest which occurs when you revive the specific kinds of energy you regularly deplete.
