Sarma Melngailis is an American chef, cookbook author, and entrepreneur. She founded Pure Food and Wine, the hugely successful vegan hotspot restaurant in NYC, which has appeared in New York Magazine’s Top 100 Restaurants roundup, as well as Forbes’ list of All Star New York Eateries for five consecutive years.
Sarma is recognized as a pioneer in the raw food movement, authoring two popular cookbooks, Raw Food, Real World and Living Raw Food which have received praise from the Daily News, New York magazine, and Time Out New York.
Her One Lucky Duck lifestyle brand is alluded to with the title of her newly published memoir, The Girl with the Duck Tattoo, which details her side of the events of her life, as portrayed in the Netflix show, Bad Vegan.
