Patrick Natili is a psychology student and 4-year scholar-athlete (cheerleading) at Florida Gulf Coast University who will soon pursue his master's degree. He also happens to be my best friend and the smartest guy I know (by far).

We broke out the organic elderflower apple sparkling sake wine and went to town on a wide range of psychology topics, among other things, that most intrigue us.

Our talking points include:

  • How to solve for social interactions the way you would solve a math problem (mathematics of sociability)

  • How to be friends with anyone

  • Suicide

  • Affluenza

  • Is the search for meaning a meaningless search?

  • Instagram/social media behavior types

  • Saturated stimuli

  • Upward and downward comparisions

  • Screen time limits

  • Trigger words and sentence framing

  • How most eating is sensation-seeking and we don't need to eat nearly as much as we do

  • Is moderation for the weak or is it a crucial component of life?

  • Self-serving biases

  • Love as a path

  • Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

  • Cognitive dissonance
