James Lecesne : The Joe D Show Episode 18

James Lecesne joins the podcast this week to discuss “The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey,” the poignant one-man show he wrote and stars in.

The play, seen earlier this year at Dixon Place and based on his young adult novel, concerns a polarizing teenager who goes tragically missing. Tony winner Duncan Sheik has written incidental music for the show.

Ace storyteller Lecesne plays nine characters — a cop, Leonard’s caretaker, a teen girl, a roughneck and more. You’ll hear him bring some to life during the conversation taped at the Westside Theatre, where “Absolute Brightness” begins its run on July 11.
