Karina’s Bio

Growing up by the Port of Tacoma, Karina has always had a genuine interest in maritime due to the various ships pulling in and out of Tacoma. Taking the interest and the passion in consideration, upon high school graduation. Karina went to the California Maritime Academy to study International Business and Logistics.

During her time at the academy, she pursued several involvements, including sports management, housing operations, and student government. She also was able to intern at the Port of Tacoma with the Commercial Team and at Inchcape Shipping Services as a Boarding Agent. Upon graduation, she was able to obtain a position with Washington Maritime Blue as the Community and Events Coordinator and then later transitioned into a Program Manager. 

Both roles have helped her promote new innovations, technology, community building, and job creation within her hometown, Tacoma. Karina currently lives in Tacoma, WA, and can be often found with her dog.

She is thankful for the friends, connections, and life lessons that were established through the academy, and still keeps in contact with folks to this day. Karina is also active within the Puget Sound Chapter and hopes to continue to help make changes and improvements to help Cal Maritime be successful for the next generations to come.
