Glen Dickson, a father of five and gym owner, shared his story on "The intochange podcast" about surviving a shark attack. On February 18, 2017, while spearfishing near Hinch Brook Island, Glen encountered a 3.5M bull shark that attacked him, resulting in the loss of his leg. He described the terrifying experience, his fight for survival, and the severe injury he sustained. Despite the trauma and intense fear, Glen managed to reach safety, and his physical fitness significantly contributed to his survival.
Following the incident, Glen underwent amputation and faced a challenging recovery, including dealing with phantom pain and adapting to life with a prosthetic leg. The experience profoundly impacted his mental health, but he found it also helped him overcome depression and gave him a new perspective on life.
Professionally, Glen continued his passion for fitness and martial arts, using his experience to inspire and motivate others in his gym. He emphasized the importance of mental resilience, the joy of helping others achieve their goals, and the fulfillment he finds in his work. Overall, Glen's story is one of resilience, determination, and positivity in the face of adversity.
