I lived under the soul-crushing force of the imposter syndrome almost my entire life. I've learned a lot about it over the past 6 years. My first book is  titled The Imposter In Charge. I've helped myself to let go of the feeling of being a fraud and I've helped others do the same. In this episode I'd like to offer a new twist that is easily within your reach to resolve this conflict.

The primary elements of this episode are:

  • The imposter syndrome comes from a state of incongruence - when your internal identity, stories, and feelings do not match the external circumstances in your life. You can be wealthy, but you don't feel wealthy.
  • The reason someone doesn't feel successful, wealthy, or loved when they are those things is because they haven't given themselves permission to feel the feelings of success, wealth, or love. They expected the circumstances to change their emotions.
  • Everything you want is an attempt to attain an emotional payoff. But nothing outside of you will deliver permanent mental stories or emotional feelings. These are inside of you and under your control, and nothing can change these but you.
