To do as Jesus did, we must be okay — and teach our kids to be okay — with stepping away from the circle, momentarily placing ourselves on the outside so we can reach someone else on the outside. The more we practice stepping outside our circles, the easier it gets to welcome others in. The more we practice it, the more we'll find it's worth the awkward.
