Cameras throughout history: The Nikkormat line







In the mid 1960s, as Nikon was transitioning from rangefinder cameras to SLRs, they needed a lower-end lineup for enthusiasts. Enter the Nikkormat series. Starting with the Nikkormat FT in 1965, these sturdy, reliable cameras were developed over the years and culminated in the EL series, which offered automatic exposure in aperture-priority mode.
