Caesar Lizardo is a Los Angeles-born and raised stand-up comedian, actor, and soon-to-be married father of a wonderful daughter. I’ve known Caesar since my first week in LA when we met at the long defunct venue Echoes Under Sunset. This episode ran wildly long but at no point was I rushing to end the conversation. We talked about the hierarchy of comedians in accenting order (a reoccurring topic throughout the episode), the significance of Joe Rogan and how he single-handedly turned stand-up comedy into the mainstream art form it is elevating everyone who he can in his wake, and the thing that made this episode run as long as it did, the on-going WGA strike; the topics of residuals, streaming services hiding the numbers of people watching “new media”, the discussion surrounding AI, and how algorithms have effected political discourse and journalism forever. It’s a great episode from start to finish and I’ll probably have him back soon.
