Consensus: Although it spawned 12 sequels of the same/similar name and a ton of slasher tropes that are still referenced and used today, the original falls a little flat under the scrutiny of todays more enlightened audiences. There are definitely some problematic scenes and questionable characters, but it's full of camp, dumb teenagers, and gore making this classic a must see for any slasher fan.
