The transition of heading back to school can be tricky for kids and parents alike. As summer winds down, I discuss the importance of sleep for kids and their overall physical and emotional health, focusing on lifestyle tips and tricks and herbs to help along the way. I share my personal journey as a homeschooling parent and provide actionable advice on adjusting bedtime schedules and creating a calming evening routine. I recommend engaging with natural light in the morning and minimizing screen time in the evening to support a healthy sleep pattern.

Some of my favorite herbs to include this type of year are nervine herbs, which act on the nervous system, especially chamomile, lavender, lemon balm, passionflower, California Poppy, and hops. I share practical and creative ways to incorporate these herbs into our lives, such as infusing them into honey, creating soothing teas, and making calming herbal popsicles for kids. I invite you all to consider these herbs as allies in establishing comforting, sleep-promoting routines for both children and adults as they transition into the school year.
