This week we continue to map the terrain, but from a slightly different angle and with an eye towards what we might need to cultivate--both inner and outer--in order to be optimally well. This week's talk by my colleague Dr. Sunjya Schweig addresses systems of care designed to boost the engagement of the most important person on your healing team: you.

I have personally been following Dr. Schweig’s work for a long time. Not only is he a functional medicine expert who is brilliant at articulating how to get to the root of complex, chronic, mysterious symptoms, but he also has a genuine heart for his patients, and a desire to serve. Like me, he is a family doctor whose career took an unexpected detour due to a complex mystery illness--not his own illness, but that of his wife. Since then, he has become a leader in the world of integrative, holistic, evidence-based and data-driven practice, teaching doctors and scientists both nationally and internationally that multi-system illnesses such as Lyme, SIBO, and mold injury need both a “high tech” (data-driven) and “high-touch” (heart-centered and holistic) approach.
