For this episode, Rivers unfurls the story of the first, last, and only government-sponsored music festival: Vortex I: A Biodegradable Festival of Life. Vortex I was held for a week at a state park outside of Portland, Oregon. The ulterior motive behind the festival was to lure hippies away from the city so they would not interfere with an American Legion Convention and its guest speaker: Richard Nixon! This is one of the craziest, and most under-reported stories in American history.
