Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

On this episode, we begin our two-part series leading up to the release of “Godzilla vs. Kong” (in theaters and on HBO Max on March 31) by diving into the 67-year history of the “Godzilla” series. We discuss how the series has endured as long as it has, and do our best to articulate why these picks fit into “good,” “bad,” and “what?” in a series that has a very set template and monster fights that are almost always charming, despite varying degrees of quality. We start with 1964’s “Mothra vs. Godzilla,” heralded by many as the best “Godzilla” sequel, as well as one of the last times the King of the Monsters was portrayed as a villain. We then leave the Showa-era and move into the Heisei-era with 1991’s “Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah,” in which you can hear Chris’ brain short-circuit in real-time trying to break down the plot. Finally, we move into the short-lived Millennium-era with the 2004 “everything-but-the-kitchen-sink” sensory-assault, “Godzilla: Final Wars.”
