Podcast # 7 - The Importance of Mirroring for Gifted Neurodivergents

In this podcast we talk about how rare it is for Gifted Neurodivergents to get the proper mirroring they need to develop healthy self esteem.

We are rare and because of this we have fewer opportunities to really connect with others like us. Additionally, our system actively works against our ability to connect with others like us. They divide our sensitive children because they are having to much fun together, choose the same person too often, and/or play with each other with too much enthusiasm.

The lack of healthy mirroring holds back the smartest and most sensitive because it:

  • prevents us from understanding what our "normal" really is.
  • prevents us from finding those who return emotions and connections as deeply as we give.
  • prevents the full cultivation of our social, emotional, and intellectual giftedness.

Our society is currently experiencing a friendship recession, particularly amongst its youngest members. The results of which can be horrifying. The value of friends is immeasurable. In friendships we often find the one place in our society where everyone can truly experience unconditional love. Without unconditional love we can never fully heal from all the trauma the world heaps on us.
