'Well, way back, I can't even remember. I was living up in northern New South Wales and some friends from Tasmania, a couple that I knew, she was actually from Korumburra. And she'd gone down there and met her partner and he'd, a couple of guys that were from Tassie had been to Africa, and they were woodworkers. And they bought a couple of djembe. They got the djembe thing, and they bought a couple of djembes and brought them back.
And then they started carving them in Tasmania, right down the south. And my friends bought two blackwood, black wattle djembes. And they were coming through northern New South Wales, and they called in to see me for a few days and they bought these drums.
Honestly, I was addicted from the moment I heard them play. It was just like, my heart was just, it was just this string. It was amazing how it just pulled me and in the end, I just couldn't, I just wanted it. I just couldn't resist it. I could not resist it. So I had a play with my friends and we just shared the drums around.'
