There are many advantages to participating in college athletics. Obviously you get to compete against others at a high level, and for some, they move onto the next level in their sport after school is complete.
For others, they have to find what's next in life as they transition out of sports and into the "real world."
Derek Wieting joins the show today to talk about his journey. From the early days playing sports, to becoming the Defensive Player of the Year in High School and getting an offer to play football at the University of Idaho.
While at U of I, Derek utilized football to not only help him on the field, but outside as well. He built his network in college and utilized the education that football had presented him with.
For athletes going on to play college sports, listen to Derek and learn from him as he teaches many important principles about what you should be doing while you are playing sports.
You can definitely utilize the educational side of the scholarship just as much as you can utilize the "sports" side of it.
