Jose Alicea “KIKO”

Founder / Curator, Souletri

Jose Alicea is the founder and curator of Souletri, a digital and in person event company that is dedicated to the growth and positive exposure of multi-disciplinary artist throughout NYC, Philadelphia, Puerto Rico and around the world.

For nearly two decades, Jose has been involved in music and art in various capacities. At the age of 18, he created an indie label called Hidden Hand Entertainment. Hidden Hand focused on the development of up-and-coming hip hop artist from the NYC area (some acts included BLVD, Jak Skelly, Jam Young and many more). After several years he created a digital magazine called Krack a Bottle which he interviewed artists like Eric Bobo of Cypress Hill, Liza Rios (BIG PUN’s widow), Triple Seis (Ex Terror Squad) just to name a few. In 2017, Souletri was born on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Through the years he partnered with many notable venues in NYC,

including The West End Lounge, The Gold Bar, Pete’s Candy, Harlem Nights and more. In 2018, he shifted focus along-side Philly’s own DJ Dizzy in created a showcase for artists in North Philly. After that event Souletri expanded to Philly permanently.

In 2020, due to COVID Jose and his crew have created a digital network of live events like Soul at Home, Soul Untapped, and Spitting on the Spot. Outside of Souletri, in 2020 Jose signed a publishing deal with a Philadelphia based publishing house J&B Publishing to release his first book, Joey Monster (a children’s book based on a young monster who’s parent’s divorce). Keep an eye on Jose and Souletri through their social media (@kiko_nyc and @souletri_ on ig and Souletri and Soul Untapped in Facebook for more news about another project of releasing a poetry book with poets from Philly, NYC & California.

Outside the books Jose is going back into artist management by releasing Tiffany Janell’s (@mstiffanyjanell Philly soul) first EP and first EP for singer Yessica Stephan (@itsjustyessi from NYC) in 2021. Jose also manages the social media for Mama Julia (@mamjulia215). He is working with Power Street Theatre (@powerstreettheatreco), and the Artistic Creative Théâtre in NYC. Jose also has a new project called Alma Del Puerto Rico which is a chance to show case artists from Puerto Rico.
