Navigating through the complex world of government benefits can be tricky, time consuming, and overwhelming. Often, due to a lack of understanding, (and a lack of clarity in government language) families often apply for these benefits with incomplete documentation, and/or make errors during the application process. Aside from being frustrating, these mistakes can be costly; they can prolong the amount of time it takes for your child to receive these benefits, and can sometimes jeopardize your child’s eligibility.
We will discuss the process of transitioning between SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) and SSI (Supplemental Security Income), and how to keep Medicaid and/or Medicare without the government benefits of SSI or SSDI. We also briefly touch on work incentives, and how they assist beneficiaries with their employment efforts.
