Our guest this week is Kara Smith from Colorado Craft Beef. The land where their ranch is located was originally homesteaded in 1917 by Kara Smith’s great, great grandfather during the Enlarged Homestead Act of 1909. This is a family business at its core, and they’re committed to building relationships with their suppliers and customers alike. Colorado Craft Beef takes pride in having lasting relationships within the beef cattle industry and providing their customers with a quality product Colorado, and all who enjoy their craft beef, can be proud of. Their beef is raised in the sand hills of northeastern Colorado in an environment five generations rich in respect and passion for the land and animals they care for. Their mission is to not only provide consumers with a high-quality beef product, but to also engage with those who are unfamiliar with the importance of knowing their roles within the industry—and in agriculture as a whole. They offer Craft Beef and Grass-Fed Beef. Today we will get into the differences between those two, as well as learn more about animal husbandry and the daily process. We hope to all learn more about this process so that we can have a greater appreciation of all that goes into the process of raising and harvesting the meat that we eat.
