3 - Memorial Day Special w/Team VIAC

Today I'm joined by Trevor Tieche, founder and CEO of Team VIAC (Valhalla I Am Coming) in Northwest Ohio. Team VIAC is a nonprofit organization working to help prevent veteran suicide, and their methods include discounted personal training for veterans, group excursions into the wilderness with a strong sense of purpose, and one-on-one therapy sessions aimed at reviving a sense of purpose and worth in veterans suffering from PTSD.

Suicide is, unfortunately, a leading cause of death in veterans suffering from PTSD, and while society "feels bad" about this situation, there's not nearly enough being done about it. No one seems to know exactly how to approach the situation, and we tend to simply ignore veterans suffering from PTSD and turn them into "the unapproachable other." Like many health issues, the best way to be part of the solution is to educate yourself and others while striving to truly be there for the people who were 100% THERE FOR YOU when it truly mattered.

Trevor Tieche is ex-Special Forces and has seen the high cost of freedom. While completely ending veteran suicide may be impossible, Tieche's goal is to spread awareness of the problem while doing everything he can to pull fellow servicemen from the depths of their inner turmoil.
