In this message spoken at Vanguard Church of Colorado Springs, Tosha teaches on what God has shown her, through the Old Testament and the New, about The Good Shepherd. Jesus said, "I am the Good Shepherd" (John 10:14), and His words echo what God spoke to His people through the prophet Ezekiel, "I will be like a shepherd...You are my flock, the people of my pasture..." (34:12, 31).
Here's the thing: God shepherds us as His followers, and then, the way He shepherds His flock shows us how we can care for those He has entrusted to us.
So, "How Does the Good Shepherd Care for His Flock?" You can follow along in your Bible with this outline of the message.
The Good Shepherd:
1. Pays attention to and cares for the needs of His flock (Ezekiel 34:1-6 and Psalm 23)
2. Recognizes His responsibility and protects His sheep (Ez. 34:7-10 and John 10:1-2)
3. Values every one of His sheep (Ezekiel 34:11-16 and Luke 15:4-7 & 19:10)
4. Is realistic about each sheep in His flock (Ezekiel 34:17-24 and John 10:22-27)
5. Blesses His flock with abundance and freedom (Ezekiel 34:25-28 and John 10:10)
6. Names and claims His flock as His own (Ezekiel 34:29-31 and John 10:14-16)
7. Shows His authority over His flock AND their oppressors (Ezekiel 35 and John 10:27-28)
Be encouraged and challenged to understand God better and then to follow His leadership and example as you care for those entrusted to you.
