Helen Pettifer of Helen Pettifer Training guests on today’s podcast – perhaps an easy company name for her to have decided upon!  We talk a little about Helen’s journey from the corporate world and high pressure sales environments to her current role, before starting to explore the topic of vulnerability.

A great place to start would be to talk about what vulnerability actually is, so that that’s where we started!

We moved on to talk about how to behave if you think you are vulnerable, how to engage with suppliers and the like, and how they should be proactively engaging with you.

The key question of course is how someone running a small or micro business can and should deal with vulnerable people.  That’s a really interesting conversation, even touching on how to deal with a customer who may be feeling suicidal.

We close by talking about the fifteen different modules at Helen’s disposal, from which she builds bespoke training for clients, but at affordable rates, as well as the open courses she runs.

Helen is the #1 authority on vulnerable customer issues and training.  Having raised a son with a rare genetic disorder and complex special needs, Helen has personally experienced the challenges that vulnerable customers face when trying to deal with organisations that do not have appropriate policies for supporting non-standard needs.

Helen has made it her mission to work together with small businesses, industry leaders, government policy makers, and voluntary sector organisations to challenge and evolve the whole ethos and culture of how we approach vulnerability within our communities.
