The Business Show which was broadcast live on Marlow FM 97.5 on 4th March 2021 is now available here, with copyright material such as the news, adverts and music edited out.
My guests on this show were Tanya Ces Maneiro and David Horne.
You can connect with both guests via https://www.linkedin.com/in/tanya-ces-maneiro-vidacoaching/ and https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidkehorne/ respectively if you want to talk to either of them about their day job, or indeed about today’s show.
https://youtu.be/jZOrkPIZ1JU was the opening track of the show – “Career Opportunities” by The Clash, played of course for the career coach who is Tanya Ces Maneiro!
I start the show by talking to Tanya about Vida Coaching and the ways in which she is helping people who have been made redundant or are at a crossroads in their career.
David Horne of Keyhorne is then my focus, talking about something of a boom in start-ups needing a website, as well as bigger clients becoming more confident and investing in a revised web presence.
“Hurt” by Johnny Cash was David’s choice of music, and he explained the clear link to his line of work. You can hear it at https://youtu.be/8AHCfZTRGiI.
David also found our first business news story to discuss, which you can read at https://www.sme-news.co.uk/nearly-half-a-million-new-businesses-set-up-in-2020/. As well as talking about that big number, we look at which sectors are doing well, the geography, and the right time to start a new business – is there one?
Tanya’s music choice was “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf, and even she was surprised by that choice – listen in to hear why, go to https://youtu.be/egMWlD3fLJ8 to hear it for yourself.
We had quite a conversation about Phoebe Cosgrove, the enterprising young lady, featured in the article at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56102509 and move on to talk about the perhaps equally enterprising Richard Harrington (know the name?) featured in the story at https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/feb/28/poldark-actor-richard-harrington-took-deliveroo-job-after-jobs-cancelled-under-covid .
And finally, we had a conversation about why Zoom makes you tired, as explained at https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/zoom-fatigue-tiredness-tips-b1809245.html.
I close the show the promised song for David - “Spiders Web” by Katie Melhua, which you can find at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tK2z1G20_9U&ab_channel=DramaticoMusic.
I hope you enjoy the show!
