The Business Show which was broadcast live on Marlow FM 97.5 on 25th Feb 2021 is now available here, with copyright material such as the news, adverts and music edited out.

My guests on this show were John Pryor and Pete Schonbeck.

You can connect with both guests via https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-pryor-gb/ and https://www.linkedin.com/in/pschonbeck2/ respectively if you want to talk to either of them about their day job, or indeed about today’s show.

https://youtu.be/CD-E-LDc384 was the opening track of the show – “Enter Sandman” by Metallica, played for my brother-in-law James, and for the budding guitarist that is indeed me.

I start the show by talking to Pete Schonbeck about Schonbeck Business Advice, including his focus on working with creatives.

John Pryor of Exalt IP then makes his contribution, explaining what intellectual property actually is, and some ways you can protect yours which are both free and easy.

“Style” by Taylor Swift was John’s choice of music, and he explained the clear link to his line of work.  You can hear it at https://youtu.be/-CmadmM5cOk .

Sparked by the story I found at https://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/19116889.milton-keynes-nail-bar-fined-ignoring-covid-restrictions/ we talked about businesses which have successfully pivoted in the last year, to be successful despite or perhaps even because of the pandemic.

Me move from there to John’s story at https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/jan/14/primark-forecasts-1bn-sales-loss-as-covid-restrictions-shutter-stores - for how long does a retailer need to be open to claw back its losses?

Pete’s music choice was “Hollywood Nights” by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, which brought back great memories for him, and for me.  You can hear it at https://youtu.be/UhuVwVpr3WY .

After talking a little about ecommerce, and big businesses copying small ones, we talk about the article at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56192048 which says that working from home won’t be the new normal.  Really??

And finally, we had a conversation about business travel and the like – when do you think you will next be on a train?

I close the show with another track with a great guitar intro – “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, which you can find at https://youtu.be/1w7OgIMMRc4 - just the 1.2bn views so far.

I hope you enjoy the show!
