“I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.”

Shane McCurry is the guest on the 23rd (!!!!) episode of The Ebbs and The Flows, and what a timely guest he is indeed. Shane McCurry is a leading leadership coach and culture consultant who has worked with sporting clubs, in particular Richmond Tigers in the AFL and South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL, and across corporate and government workplaces, including the Australian Army. His passion for his vocation and his lust for life and all the challenges, moments and learnings is infectious. This conversation is a reflection of a person who understands giving back is as important as taking in - welcome to EBBS, Shane McCurry!

In this episode, we discuss teamwork, the moments he will never, ever forget, why he carries round a photo in his wallet and why the format of his note to self is typed up. This is a conversation that made me feel really connected to this person, this man, but also really connected to life, and how in an instant you can make someone's day better, or how the dinner you had with your mates might never happen in the same way. Shane's sense of self is a tremendous thing to behold, but so to is his gift of listening and his deep love and passion for storytelling.

I loved being part of this episode, and I hope you love listening to it.

The Ebbs community, I present to you, Shane McCurry.
