C2E11: The Bread

The party of Vigil's find themselves in Havnok, the City of Castles with it's imposing walls and labyrinthine streets. The curator of the Vigil outpost points the group to investigate the Bread Wall, a section of the city known for it's delicious baked goods and being built into the side of a steep cliff. After a few hours of pressing their way through the crowds, they reached the Black Dragon Bakery & Brewery (also known as the BDBB). Due to Ren and Alia's appetite the party enters the BDBB for their famous dragon bread while Pinky spots some children to play with. The Bread is divine and the children teach Pinky bread tag. Barren talks with a woman who's husband is sick and discovers her children are missing as well. In the middle of all these activities, all the bread in the city district turns rancid with crusty black mold. Pinky starts asking questions but the ring leader of the children, Klem, who cannot be found. The party searches high and low in the BDBB and is eventually lead to the Elwind family with a sick teenager. Then Opal and Ren using their abilities to sense evil and poison respectively realize that there is some demonic presence in the boy and Alia and Moss push it out using magic. The boy shakes, foaming complete darkness at the mouth as he vomits a shadow which stands up and makes a run for it. Through a combined effort and especially through the use of Opal's axe, Shadowrend, the Vigil's of Yavna vanquish the creature.
