Dr. Sonal Patel is the Program Manager for Computer Science and Digital Learning at the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. She works with her team to build, plan, and facilitate the design, development, and implementation of equitable educational technology and Computer Science programs. Dr. Sonal has worked with educational partners to help lead county

and state-wide efforts in broadening K-12 access and participation in computer science. Dr. Sonal is a dedicated advocate for digital accessibility and inclusion where she is currently working to bring transformative culturally responsive practices into blended learning models. Dr. Sonal has grown her county office’s blended learning program by creating a research-based blended learning framework and using it to guide educators in professional development workshops and coaching. She has also led large-scale efforts to broaden participation and access in K-12 computer science education.

Dr. Sonal is a CSTA Equity Fellow, a co-founder of the California Inland Empire Computer Science Equity Network, a Google Certified Trainer and Innovator, and a member of Our Voice Alliance (OVA).  Recently, she was the recipient of ISTE’s 20 to Watch Award which recognizes up-and-coming individuals who are already making a difference through their work.

Formerly, Dr. Sonal has been an instructional coach and taught for a number of years both in California and the U.K. which is where she was born.
