When people hear my story about going from a contract analyst at a small site to the Industrial Engineering Manager of a national company in 6 months, they assume it was mostly due to my technical engineering skills. While, yes, I have a number of technical skills that I taught myself along the way, the one skill that made the most difference in my life and career is completely non-technical, and something all of us can learn and apply.
In this episode I share about solution-based thinking, and about how shifting this way of thinking lead to me designing a project that launched my progression within my company. I also explore how 'under promising and over delivering' is a recipe for mediocre results, and how we need to put ourselves on the hook in our lives to truly transform.
