Welcome to The Daily Quote—a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for February 9th.

Now, let’s talk about today’s holiday: Read a Book in the Bath Day. Yes, that’s a real thing. Finally, an excuse to soak in a warm tub and pretend you're being productive. It’s a day dedicated to relaxation, self-care, and—if you’re feeling particularly daring—risky page-turning. Because let’s be honest, dropping your book in the water is a rite of passage. If you haven't done it at least once, are you even living?

Since today is all about unwinding with a good book, I’ve chosen a quote from the great C.S. Lewis, the mind behind The Chronicles of Narnia. He once said:

"You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me."

Now, let’s just swap out the tea for a bubble bath, and we’re right on theme. Lewis perfectly captured the feeling of getting lost in a good book—the kind that makes you lose track of time, ignore your responsibilities, and, in today’s case, turn into a human prune in the tub.

There’s something magical about books and water—whether it’s a bath, a beach, or a rainy day by the window. They transport you somewhere else while you remain perfectly still. And honestly, in a world that constantly demands movement, that’s a rare and beautiful thing.

So today, take the time to slow down. Run the bath, grab a book, and enjoy the simple pleasure of words and warm water. Just… maybe keep a towel nearby. Because once you drop a book in the tub, no amount of drying is going to make those pages the same again.

That’s it for today’s episode of The Daily Quote. Thanks for spending a few minutes with me. If you enjoyed this, make sure to subscribe, and I’ll see you tomorrow same pod time, same pod station for another Daily Quote.
