Get to know the hands, head, and heart behind Jim Owens, an internationally recognized, self-taught oil painter, born and educated in Detroit, Michigan “The Motor City”, to a family that’s been building cars since 1926. After graduating with a B.A. in Illustration from The Center of Creative Studies, Jim began his artistic career in the advertising business, drawing and airbrushing automotive illustrations by hand for large agencies such as W.B. Doner, J. Walter Thompson, and Campbell Ewald.
Today, he makes his home with his wife, Kathleen, in Mesa, Arizona and drives a beloved 1952 Hudson Coupe that he has fully restored himself.
