MOANA and BLUE BY JONI MITCHELL: Reviewed!

All I really, really want our pod … to do … is to be listened to by me and you too! Well, mainly just you. I’d rather do my shift in the kitchen and then peace out, d’you know what I mean? Y'all eat though, you enjoy.

We are finally back to our regularly scheduled programming. Can you believe it? All the specials and all the spectaculars behind us for good. Or something. The awards shows. The state of the pod podcast retrospective spectacular special, remember that one. The quiz finale, that one time. That time we invented an elaborate podcast as a hoax in order to hoodwink Christopher into reading a book. That was a good one. And it worked! I think? Eventually. And that was the end of that hoax … right? Hoaxes famously always end smoothly, I feel like. Anyway, what do we do in the show notes when we’re not doing specials? Oh yeah, the shownotes! It’s like the podcast but a book *about* the podcast. A literary companion, so to speak. Well, welcome ... to it.

We’ve kinda gotta get out of here now, we’re running out of character limit after all that preamble. How very CCCAH of us heheh. And if the shownotes today have nothing but links to Joni Mitchell because featuring her led to a few enthusiastic and festive weeks of reenaging with her beautiful work for at least one of your hosts well, hey … you’re welcome!

As we quoted on the pod, Cameron Crowe interviewed Joni about Blue a few years ago: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/music/story/2021-06-20/joni-mitchell-cameron-crowe-50th-anniversary-blue

As archived on one of the cooler websites on Beyoncé's internet, The Uncool.com, you can check out an older interview Cameron Crowe did with Joni from a few years back: http://www.theuncool.com/journalism/rs296-joni-mitchell/

OK no sign of Reese Witherspoon here but still: https://jonimitchell.com/library/view.cfm?id=5753

Even the internet’s busiest music nerd Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop reviewed Blue last year it’s like even though the album is like nearly 45 years old allllll the cool kids just can’t stop talking about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nrhIaEEDPw

The amazing music critic Ann K Powers spoke at the Kennedy Center about her new book entitled Traveling On The Path of Joni Mitchell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RnPpHQhgHg

You could e-mail us “hey can I be on the pod next week” and we’ll probably be like “yeah” or you could say “review The Traitors” and we’d do a whole episode for you. You could probably buy the podcast off us for a tenner. Or hey, just say hey: [email protected]
