I Love You So F***ing Much by Glass Animals: Reviewed!

Hey shownotes fans! We so appreciate you not getting a life and keeping plugged in to your weekly dose of SHOW NOTES (*the crowd goes wild)! It just gets better and better doesn’t it? Every week. It’s like how the Grammys just goes from strength to strength every year! Well, I don’t know, allegedly … don’t mean to spoil the season 5 debut episode coming to your feeds next week.

Now let’s talk about the sound quality quickly. Heads up. In parts … it’s bad. Internet was a bit dodge. You know them ones. You know how it goes. Get over it, it’s fine really. You listened to worse in the 90s, d’you know what I mean? Hopped up on drugs, playing pogs and drinking Irn-Bru or whatever.

So what are we doing here today anyway? It’s another special! Yes, you lucky listener you! And we’ve done you one better than us prancing around town with our hi-tech equipment … we’ve got our third musketeer involved. The Big E to our Xavier and Kofi! It’s another Ali special baby!

Many years and/or seasons ago, he pitched us an album. I think. It’s still a bit blurry tbh. But let’s assume he did. How kind and considerate of him (well he is the co-founder of the fictional band The Antibodies after all) knowing we love music round these parts. And you know what else we love? Eventually getting around to said music! Listening to the music. Eventually sending four ticks through each (a “tick” looks like this: “I Love You So F***ing Much ✅“) in a message via WhatsApp to signify each full listen of said album. So great. It’s like a regular CCCAH episode except, instead of reviewing the pitched content the following week, we do it nearly a year later.

Here is the album we review on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5i6LJyHq9wxLSecf0N2Iuw?si=kkbNqyCVTOiW_Ib9J9VMQQ

Ok so back to Glass Animals. Here is Heat Waves live from Dreamland in Margate on a Covid tonight show: https://youtu.be/NRwz8c1jha8?si=thxaRqkLYEXhG1nM

Lost in the ocean here is a Glass Animals song they played on the side of a canyon, I’m told: https://youtu.be/fYo2q-ZK1qw?si=80OYCBDhSO_Tn_qM

Show pony was another song they played on the side of a canyon, to the best of my understanding: https://youtu.be/IBmfAxKmIJc?si=sbCOGpQ11On9RWOB

Here is the single Pitchfork review that was mentioned, of the previous album Dreamland: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/glass-animals-dreamland/

A very interesting roundtable review of the album from the Atwood Magazine Staff: https://atwoodmagazine.com/ilysfm-glass-animals-i-love-you-so-fing-music-album-review/

Alexis Petridis gave the album two stars for the Guardian. Two stars out of what though … five, yep, five: https://www.theguardian.com/music/article/2024/jul/18/glass-animals-i-love-you-so-fing-much-review
